The Future of Smart Cities

Tyréns spent three days at Microsoft’s Executive Briefing Centre in Redmond, Washington exploring and discussing a range of topics such as IoT, AI, Cloud Computing, Future Farming, Smart Cities, Connected Governments, and Cyber Security.

Tyréns and Microsoft have a close connection with a joint mission of using technology to benefit communities worldwide. The two companies have worked on several high-profile projects relating to Smart City solutions in the past year.

Tyréns’ three-day visit to Microsoft’s headquarters were spent discussing, learning and sharing ideas about how a community can become a "Smart City" through digital transformation. The following topics were discussed:

The Modern Workplace

How can we best utilise the tools and trends to enable a 'Smart' work place?

Artificial Intelligence (AI)

What is AI and how can we use it to our advantage when planning the future of cities and communities?

Advanced Data Analysis

How can we use the many sources we have for data analysis?

Azure IoT

Microsoft Azure is a cloud computing service created by Microsoft for building, testing, deploying and managing applications and services through a global network of Microsoft-managed data centres. Discussions were held on the specific opportunities with Azure and IoT around Smart Cities.

Smart Buildings

How can a connected and intelligent building help increase productivity, decrease environmental footprint, increase flexibility of use and security measures through a predictive analysis, AI and IoT?

Smart Cities

Questions like how we can build the Smart Cities of the future, what the future of infrastructure systems look like, how Smart City development relates to the working environment and how it can contribute towards a more sustainable and green community were discussed and debated.

There are many questions where we, together with our industry partners, can find solutions to problems we currently experience in our communities. This enables us to create change for the better, both in the long and short term, working towards a fully integrated system for our future Smart Cities.
