North Bexhill Access Road

Sea Change Sussex are creating a new business district on land in north east of Bexhill. The first phase is the Bexhill Enterprise Park to the south-east of Combe Valley. To facilitate future residential development north of Bexhill the North Bexhill Link Road (NBLR) has been proposed lining the Bexhill to Hastings Link Road with the A269 Ninfield Road. Sea Change Sussex estimates that the new development north of Bexhill will boost the local economy by £1 billion over the next 25 years.

The highway engineer for the NBLR was Campbell Reith and Tyréns were appointed to carry out the design of the link road’s only bridge. The bridge structure was a single span overbridge carrying the NBLR over the Combe Haven river. The 25m span bridge had a composite steel concrete deck with piled reinforce concrete abutments and wing walls. Tyréns provided concept, cost consultancy, planning, design and construction supervision for the bridge.
